Yeah, I didn't really work very hard on the edge cases with the game play. You can even keep on playing after you win or lose :) I've put this project aside for the time being, but I love it when people still find bugs. Really.

Great application!

The bug I found in the app was when I pressed the "undo" button before starting the game and it spit out a run-time error as follows:

TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
	at connect4.model::Game/retractMove()
	at Connect4/___Button1_click()

Other than that, great example to look at!

Awesome job, Joe! I haven't played Connect 4 since I was a kid, and apparently haven't gotten much better since then either... ;-)

Hey joe, very nice AS3 'port' of this classic ;)

I commented on Mike's blog about it, thinking it was your blog, but just so you know, the app doesn't know when the game is a draw. I tied the computer and it thought there were more moves to make. There were none: http://mechanical-bull.com/stuffs/connectTie.jpg

great job again,

Yeah, I thought about doing the live multiplayer thing, but this exercise was all about the game algorithm!

Cool stuff Joe! How about the next version uses the Messaging Service so that internet players can play against each other? I guess that would negate all the cool AI logic though.

[...] Fellow co-worker Joe Berkovitz just launched his blog and what better way to introduce yourself to the blogosphere, but with a Flex2 game complete with source code! Some may have seen Joe at the last MAX conference where he talked about skinning and styling Flex apps. I recently just started a new position with Allurent where I'll be working closely with Joe and since he's not listed with MXNA yet I wanted to welcome him to the Flash blogging community by sending some people over his way.
